Movie breakdown: Day Shift (Netflix)

Jamie Foxx stars as Dave Franco and Jamie Foxx is the star of "Day Shift", a new movie about vampire hunting. The movie is about a blue collar working dad who wants to provide for his child's happiness. But, his mundane job at the pool in San Fernando Valley serves as a front for hunting and killing Vampires as part of an international Union of vampiric hunters.

The premise sounds fun, but can director J.J. Perry deliver?

Jamie Foxx is seen shooting at a woman who turns out to have been a vampire in the opening scene of "Day Shift". This then leads to a wild fight between them. This kind of ragdoll physics makes the action scenes really pop. I think the movie does a better job than most action movies on Netflix or blockbusters. It's easy not to think about the old saying, "action speaks Louder than words". I believe that Day Shift is able to successfully use dialogue and action to help the plot and character growth. Jamie Foxx's character kills the vampire. He then has a funny, dry conversation with his partner about how he believed she would become a bat or other animal. It's moments like this that help to elevate "Day Shift" above other similar movies.

Day Shift was another film I enjoyed. It's a fun and light-hearted film that I found enjoyable. It had original action and didn't require me to think too much. I enjoyed it immensely. It had humor, and I was able to laugh out loud quite a bit. Of course it also took reference from som brilliant vampire films such as Blade and the Lost Boys which also happen to be some of my favorite films. The acting was solid, the directing was brilliant and the cinematography quite impressive. Day Shift will satisfy those who are looking for something that is entertaining but not too serious. It's a lot of fun.

Day Shift was an interesting movie. While there's a lot fun action and some interesting characters (the brothers, Seth) there's also a terrible villain and a lot more mediocre characters. Some scenes were missing. Bud's neighbor acts like they are close friends even though she was only given 3 minutes of screen-time prior to the final scene. This helps the best characters shine even more. Overall, it's an enjoyable movie, but it could have Day Shift Netflix been better.

Snoop Dogg is almost gone. He's amazing in Day Shift. He makes the movie worthwhile. His humor is infectious and he delivers some memorable lines. But more than that, he's just so natural in the role. He's natural at the role.
